Once Upon Me ("we", "us") creates personalized children's storybooks. We take the privacy of your family — and especially your children's photos — seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Child details you enter: first name, age, appearance description, and interests — used solely to write and illustrate your book.
• Photos you upload: 3–5 photos of your child, used solely to personalize your book's illustrations and keepsake pages.
• Your email address: if you provide it, we use it to deliver your finished book and to let you return to a saved story. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
• Payment details: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Shipping address: for printed books only, collected at checkout and shared with our print partner solely to ship your order.

How photos are handled

• Photos are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored securely with our media storage provider (Cloudinary).
• Photos are processed by AI services to extract a brief appearance description (e.g. "curly red hair, brown eyes") used to keep your book's character consistent. The description is shown to you and editable before use.
• Photos are never shared with third parties for advertising, never used to train AI models by us, and never published.
• You can request deletion of all photos and order data at any time by emailing hello@onceuponmebooks.com.

Service providers we rely on

To create and deliver your book, limited data passes through: Stripe (payments), Cloudinary (photo and book storage), SendGrid (email delivery), Lulu (book printing and shipping for printed orders), and AI providers (Anthropic and OpenAI) that generate story text and illustrations. Each receives only what it needs to perform its role.

Children's privacy

Our service is used by parents and guardians — not by children directly. We only process a child's information that a parent or guardian voluntarily provides in order to create their book.

Data retention

We keep your story and photos so you can re-download your book and reorder prints. Email us at any time to have everything deleted.
